The Grand Africa Initiative (GAIN), in collaboration with the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), has successfully wrapped up its 2024 Masterclass on Entrepreneurship and Intra-African Trade.
This intensive six-week training program, held from May 2024, empowered 300 emerging business leaders from across Africa with the essential skills needed to develop their businesses and succeed in the growing intra-African market.
The program centered on enhancing entrepreneurial skills, stressing the significance of expanding businesses beyond national borders and taking advantage of the opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Participants engaged in a well-rounded curriculum that covered key areas such as business idea development, identifying market opportunities, forming business partnerships, strategic marketing, and delivering exceptional customer service.
The masterclass was designed to support young entrepreneurs, women, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), aligning with the AfCFTA’s broader goals of fostering a more integrated and self-sufficient African economy.
During the opening ceremony, Mr. Chidozie Ezeani, representing Afreximbank, reaffirmed the bank’s dedication to empowering African youth, who are considered the continent’s most valuable assets.
Participants expressed their appreciation for the program, acknowledging its significant impact on their businesses.
Chioma Echegwisi, CEO of Davichi Farms and Agrotech Nig Ltd, Nigeria, lauded the program’s insightful and knowledge-rich sessions.
Monde Thursday Yissah, CEO of Yissah Logistics Group Limited, Malawi, thanked GAIN and Afreximbank for the opportunity, emphasizing the program’s transformative effect on his business outlook. Khadar Mowlid, CEO of Barrwaqo Construction Company, Somalia, expressed his gratitude for the valuable lessons and masterclass experience.
Janet Oladapo, Programs Officer at GAIN and coordinator for the masterclass, expressed her contentment with the program’s success, highlighting its critical support for young entrepreneurs across Africa.
The participants of this masterclass are now equipped with the necessary expertise, networks, and mentorship to drive their business development, positioning them to contribute positively to the African economy.
