The Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnic (SSANIP), Yabatech Chapter, has praised Alh. Tunde Fanimokun, a philanthropist, for donating N3.5 billion to construct an Entrepreneurship Centre for the college.
Mr. Jason Ayodeji, the Chairman of SSANIP, Yabatech Chapter, expressed gratitude on Wednesday, stating that the donation would enhance students’ career prospects.
The groundbreaking ceremony, held on Tuesday at the Yusuf Grillo Hall of the college, marked Fanimokun’s 80th birthday. Ayodeji noted that the Union was pleased with the generous donation, honoring the late Wahab Folawiyo, the Founding Father of Yinka Folawiyo Conglomerate.
The building, to be named the “Folawiyo Entrepreneurship Centre,” aims to create an environment where students can acquire essential life skills for the future.
Ayodeji emphasized the crucial role of entrepreneurship centers in shaping students’ futures, fostering innovation, and nurturing entrepreneurial skills.
He lauded the initiative, expressing gratitude to Alh. Fanimokun and highlighting the potential of the Entrepreneurship Centre to provide resources, guidance, and networking opportunities for students’ entrepreneurial ventures.
Describing the planned four-story building, Ayodeji outlined its features, including lecture theaters, classrooms, office spaces, vocational areas, and parking facilities.
He acknowledged the efforts of Dr. Ibraheem Abdul, the Rector of Yabatech, in securing the significant endowment for the institution, praising the administration’s accomplishments and pledging continued support.
Fanimokun, a former Permanent Secretary with the Lagos State Civil Service, later served as Executive Director of projects under the late Folawiyo.
