Nigerian Vice President Kashim Shettima praised Tony Elumelu, Chairman of Heirs Holdings (HH), for his significant contributions to Nigeria and Africa’s development. Shettima hailed Elumelu as a transformative figure in banking and entrepreneurship, emphasizing his deep commitment to Nigeria and its people. Elumelu, speaking at HH’s annual directors’ summit, underscored the firm’s mission to achieve sustainable impact through strong corporate governance and strategic, long-term investments. He highlighted HH’s role in promoting Africapitalism, aiming to drive African development by combining business success with social responsibility.
The summit gathered over 100 board members from HH’s diverse investee companies to reinforce governance standards, foster innovation, and celebrate business milestones. HH’s investments span multiple sectors and employ over 40,000 individuals across 20 African countries, as well as internationally. Their portfolio includes prominent entities like Heirs Energies Limited, United Capital Plc, Transcorp Group Plc, Avon HMO, and others, with significant assets under management totaling N10.6 trillion/$7.1 billion. Elumelu’s philanthropic arm, the Tony Elumelu Foundation, has impacted 1.5 million young Africans through entrepreneurship initiatives, fostering job creation and economic growth across the continent.
