During the distribution of the cash, the Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (YOSEMA), Dr. Muhammad Goje, stated that the young entrepreneurs had undergone a week-long training and profiling process in preparation for receiving the start-up grant.
He mentioned that in addition to their vocational skills, the women were provided with training in financial literacy, savings, and other essential business skills to ensure they were well-prepared to manage and grow their enterprises sustainably.
Dr. Goje further emphasized that this initiative marks a significant step towards empowering women entrepreneurs, fostering economic development, and promoting social cohesion within the community.
He also praised the efforts of all partners involved in the program, including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Nigeria, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the implementing partner, Portrait of Lake Child Initiative.
