UNFPA is the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency. Their mission is to deliver a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person’s potential is fulfilled. The UNFPA Country Office in The Gambia is inviting applications for Interns -Women, Peace and Security (WPS) and Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS).
To support the implementation of the Gambia government/UNFPA 9th Country Program and to ensure quality delivery, the UNFPA Country Office is seeking Interns on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) and Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS).
The Interns WPS will support Gender/GBV and Adolescents/Youth units in implementing projects, liaising with partners and sub-contractees in ensuring effective implementation of each project. The Interns will also provide technical support to the formulation and management of WPS and YPS programmes, as well as gather and compile data and information for the preparation of documents, guidelines, speeches and position papers, in collaboration with the Programme team.
Cost
- Interns do not receive a salary or any other form of remuneration from UNFPA. The costs associated with an intern’s participation in the programme must be assumed either by the nominating institution, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students, or by the students themselves, who will have to meet living expenses as well as make their own arrangements for accommodation, travel and other requirements.
- However, they receive a stipend to help cover basic daily expenses related to the internship, if not financially supported by any institution or programme, such as a university, government, foundation, or scholarship programme. In addition, applicants must have medical insurance for the duration of the internship. Proof of insurance will need to be submitted before the internship begins. UNFPA does not provide medical insurance for interns.
Eligibility
Applicants at the time of application should meet the following requirements:
- Have recently graduated with a bachelor’s or master’s Degree and, if selected, must start the internship immediately.
