The Government of Akwa Ibom State has allocated a N400 million business grant to 780 recipients, which includes physically challenged entrepreneur Mr. Jones Okon Akpan, through the Entrepreneurship Accelerator Programme introduced by Governor Umo Eno.
During the award ceremony held at the Government House Banquet Hall in Uyo, Governor Eno stressed the significance of entrepreneurship, particularly highlighting special support for Mr. Jones Okon Akpan’s mobility requirements and offering additional aid.
Referring to the beneficiaries as representatives of the program, Governor Eno urged them to prioritize their businesses over political endeavors, underlining the importance of the training they have received.
Acknowledging the governor’s assistance, Imoabasi Jacob of Ibom Leadership and Entrepreneurship Development affirmed that effective training would lead to positive outcomes.
During her keynote speech, Ms. Nnena Ugwu from Pan-Atlantic University Lagos advised the beneficiaries to cultivate discipline and focus.
Chief Assam Assam SAN expressed appreciation to the governor for fulfilling campaign promises and encouraged beneficiaries to view the grant as a platform for global entrepreneurship.
In expressions of gratitude, Mrs. Ekaette Umoh and Daniel Esetang vowed to utilize the grant prudently for business expansion and the advancement of the state’s interests.
Governor Eno had previously committed to bolstering the state’s economy by reigniting the entrepreneurial spirit and constructing an international market in Ikot Ekpene, aimed at alleviating the challenges faced by entrepreneurs in sourcing raw materials.
