Here’s what you need to do to get started:

Eligibility Requirements:
The GoGettaz Agripreneurs Prize offers a remarkable chance for young African agripreneurs to unleash their agribusiness potential. Here are the criteria we’re seeking:
For the Entrepreneur:
The entrepreneur must be 35 years old or younger at the time of submission and legally recognized as an adult in their country of nationality.
They must hold nationality (with an official ID) from an African Union member country.
The entrepreneur should be the founder/co-founder of the venture represented in the competition and actively involved in its operations and leadership.
They must have no criminal record related to corruption, tax evasion, financial impropriety, felony, or other offenses, and may need to provide a signed declaration to confirm this if requested.
For the Venture:
The venture must be legally registered in an African Union member country or have started the registration process before July 1, 2024.
It must be headquartered in an African Union member country.
The venture should aim for financial sustainability, either as a for-profit or non-profit entity generating some revenue and striving to minimize dependency on donor funding.
It must contribute to the agrifood sector’s development through innovation or process improvement.
The agrifood sector includes businesses involved in:
- Agrifood research & development
- Primary food production (farming)
- Crop nutrition
- Irrigation
- Mechanization, automation, or robotics, including drones
- Crop protection
- Hydroponics or urban farming
- Transport, distribution, storage, or logistics
- Food processing
- Packaging or marketing
- Food retail or service
- Waste management or recycling
- Digital or technology solutions/services for the agrifood sector
- Innovative finance solutions/services for the agrifood sector
- Renewable energy or environmental solutions/services for the agrifood sector
Benefits:
- Two winners will each receive $50,000 Grand Prizes, totaling $100,000 in prizes.
- Impact Awards will be given to ventures making significant contributions in improving rural livelihoods, nutrition, climate solutions, technology, gender impact, natural resources conservation, and job creation.
- Facilitated participation in the Agribusiness Deal Room.
- Invitation to the 2025 GoGettaz Africa Leadership Program for top finalists.
- Two entrepreneurs, one female and one male, will each win $50,000 for the most innovative and scalable business ventures.
We are seeking businesses that demonstrate:

- An inspiring and investible team
- A strong business model
- Impact
The top GoGettaz agripreneurs will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to present their businesses at the GoGettaz Finals during the Africa Food Systems Forum Summit. The 2024 AFSF Summit will take place in Kigali, Rwanda, in September.
During the summit, finalists will have the opportunity to participate in the AFSF Agribusiness Dealroom, Africa’s premier matchmaking platform, where they can connect with potential investors, partners, and collaborators.
Top contenders will also have the chance to apply for the exclusive six-month GoGettaz Africa Leadership Program, crafted to empower emerging leaders with the necessary skills and network to foster both personal and business growth.
Selected entrepreneurs will receive personalized support, engaging in one-on-one coaching, peer-to-peer sessions, and workshops led by industry experts, fostering continuous growth even after the competition concludes.
Timeline:
An expert panel will review all submissions received between April 8 and June 10, 2024.
Evaluations will be based on the following criteria:
- Innovation
- Market potential and traction
- Inspirational and Investible Team
- Business model
- Impact
The top 24 semi-finalists will be notified via WhatsApp and email in mid-July.
Semi-finalists will undergo individual interviews and may be asked for additional information.
By the end of July 2024, the jury will select 12 finalists. Six male and six female finalists will be notified via WhatsApp and email.
Finalists will be invited to compete onstage at the AFSF Summit in Kigali, Rwanda, during the first week of September 2024.
All 12 finalists will receive mentorship, programming linkages, and other guidance to further their entrepreneurial journey.
Application Form Queries:
The application includes questions such as:
- “Provide an example illustrating your entrepreneurial mindset.”
- “How does your business generate revenue?”
- “What is your strategy for scaling up your business?”
- “Who are your primary competitors?”
- “What are the major challenges your business has faced, and how have you overcome them?”
Applicants must complete each section of the application for consideration, and are advised to allow ample time to do so. Remember, progress can be saved, and the application can be completed in multiple sessions.
Applicants who advance past the initial round will be requested to submit a two-minute pitch video, offering an opportunity to impress the judges and demonstrate why they deserve a place in the finals of the 2024 GoGettaz Agripreneur Prize Competition. The video pitch will be utilized to showcase the applicant’s company to the GoGettaz audience.
