AXA Mansard, a renowned global leader in insurance and asset management, has demonstrated its ongoing commitment to supporting women and the Medium, Small, and Medium-scale Enterprise (MSME) sector in Nigeria. They have recently extended their support to three female-owned MSMEs by providing business grants totaling 1.4 million naira, following their success at the International Women’s Day Pitch Competition held in Lagos in collaboration with SME 100 Africa.
Olusesan Ogunyooye, the Head of Marketing at AXA Mansard, highlighted the significance of this initiative in bolstering female entrepreneurship in Nigeria. He emphasized AXA’s dedication to women’s causes and the growth of the MSME sector. The competition attracted a diverse range of entries from women across various industries, with shortlisted participants given the opportunity to present their innovative business ideas in sectors such as food, technology, fashion, and fragrance.
Ogunyooye stressed the importance of investing in women, aligning with AXA’s mission of promoting human progress. He pointed out that empowering women in MSMEs not only strengthens the socio-economic landscape but also contributes to job creation and wealth distribution. Furthermore, he reiterated AXA’s commitment to further support Nigerian women and MSMEs, recognizing their pivotal role in driving economic growth.
The winners of the competition, Lawon Ajoke, Founder of Calcium Hub, Ngozi Ada Onyekwelu, Founder of Ibbie Gold Smart Cards, and Taiwo Esther, Founder of Damseth Enterprise, were awarded grants ranging from one million naira to two hundred thousand naira.
