The CONNAK Foundation, established in 2012, emerged with a clear mission to combat youth unemployment in Nigeria’s eastern region. It sought to uplift communities plagued by social maladies like drug abuse and crime by empowering young people economically. With a focus on fostering vibrancy in rural areas, the foundation set out to redirect youth energy towards positive endeavors.
Central to its vision is the goal of strengthening the economic capacity of both young people and women, empowering them to catalyze change within their communities. CONNAK Foundation actively seeks innovative ideas across several key sectors: Agro Tech, Fintech, Renewable Energy, and Waste Management. These innovations are seen as crucial in addressing pressing issues such as power shortages and environmental challenges in Nigeria.
The foundation offers funding opportunities of up to $5000 for innovative business ideas and an eight-week online class to support aspiring entrepreneurs. Priority sectors for support include Fintech, ICT & Digital Marketing, Renewable Energy, Healthcare & Fitness, Manufacturing & Production, Waste Management, Education & Training, and Creative Industry & Entertainment. Additionally, the foundation conducts a national boot camp across four locations, providing a platform for skill development and networking.
