The Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) and International Energy Insurance (IEI) have teamed up to offer enhanced support for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria by focusing on risk management and insurance. This collaboration aims to strengthen the sustainability and growth of SMEs by equipping them with crucial knowledge and resources.
The partnership will introduce a specialized curriculum and training program, alongside upgraded learning resources provided by IEI. This includes the rebranding and enhancement of the EDC studio, which will now serve as a center for interactive learning and professional development.
Olawale Anifowoshe from EDC highlighted the importance of this partnership in empowering SMEs with essential risk management knowledge, particularly in light of the challenges faced during the ENDSARS protests. Meanwhile, Olasupo Sogelola of IEI underscored the role of supporting SMEs, noting the large number of Nigerians employed by and involved in these businesses. The partnership also includes Clear Pay Microfinance Bank, which will offer additional funding support to SMEs and MSMEs. Overall, this initiative represents a crucial step in building a more resilient support system for SMEs in Nigeria.
