The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced the selection of 90,000 individuals for the third cohort of its 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative, a vital project aimed at enhancing the country’s technical workforce. The announcement was made by Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, on Tuesday.
The 3MTT initiative, which continues to accept new applications, offers Nigerians opportunities to acquire in-demand technical skills and become integrated into the global digital economy. Dr. Tijani shared the news via social media, stating, “Cohort 3 of @3MTTNigeria is now live and we will be enrolling an additional 90,000 Fellows to start their training journey.”
This latest cohort follows previous phases of the program, with Cohort 1 enrolling 30,000 fellows and Cohort 2, launched in March, expanding to 270,000 participants. The program is in line with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope agenda, aiming to create a robust talent pool that supports Nigeria’s digital economy and positions the country as a key exporter of technical talent.
Dr. Tijani highlighted that fellows from the first two cohorts are already gaining hands-on experience through internships and hackathons held nationwide, where they collaborate to create solutions that showcase their newly acquired skills.
The 3MTT program provides training in a variety of high-demand skills, including Digital Marketing, Project Management Software, Cloud Platforms, Data Analysis, SEO, CRM Management, Graphics Design, UX/UI Design, and more. These skills are designed to equip participants for roles that utilize technology in diverse sectors, even if they do not directly involve the creation of tech products.
The Federal Government is committed to scaling the program with a goal of reaching 3 million Nigerians, reflecting the increasing global demand for skilled talent in the digital economy.
