The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) has announced the expansion of its Skills Upgrading and Professional Advancement (SUPA) programme, increasing the number of training centres from 800 to a minimum of 1,500. This initiative is designed to strengthen workforce capacity by equipping participants with essential, industry-specific skills.
According to Mr. Ogun, the first phase of the training will last between six and eight weeks, concluding with a certification exam. Participants who successfully pass this stage will advance to the second phase, where they will receive specialized technical training in their respective fields. A comprehensive list of the 100,000 enrolled trainees will be published on both the SUPA website and ITF’s official portal.
To enhance training quality, ITF is partnering with original equipment manufacturers to acquire training tools in bulk, ensuring that participants have access to modern, industry-standard equipment. Additionally, ITF is collaborating with the Nigerian Employers Consultative Association (NECA) to facilitate job placements for graduates. Beyond securing employment, the organization is also developing a business incubation framework to support entrepreneurship, enabling trainees to establish their own businesses upon completing the programme.
This expansion underscores ITF’s dedication to closing Nigeria’s skills gap and driving economic growth by preparing a workforce that aligns with industry demands.
