NDE Trains Over 33,000 Nigerians in Job Skills and Business Support

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has successfully equipped 33,692 youths, women, and individuals with disabilities across Nigeria with vital job skills, enabling them to launch small businesses and secure employment. This extensive training program was implemented across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory as part of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Employment Initiative.

During an event in Lagos, NDE Director-General Silas Agara, represented by the Lagos State Coordinator, Elizabeth Omatsola, emphasized that the program aims to curb unemployment by providing participants with practical skills, financial assistance, and job placement opportunities. The initiative prioritizes skill acquisition, mentorship, and business support, ensuring that beneficiaries are well-prepared to thrive in the modern workforce.

Omatsola further highlighted that in addition to training, the program offers startup loans, business equipment, and access to financial resources to facilitate the growth of new entrepreneurs. Through collaborations with local businesses, NDE seeks to expand employment opportunities, foster innovation, and contribute to national economic development. She stressed that beyond self-employment, the program aspires to empower beneficiaries to generate jobs for others.

She urged participants to value and utilize the tools provided rather than selling them, encouraging dedication and perseverance in their business ventures. “This initiative serves as a foundation for financial independence. With commitment and hard work, you can evolve into job creators and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s economy,” she stated.

Several beneficiaries, including Raji Idris Oluwatoyin and Razak Yusuff Idowu, expressed appreciation for the training and resources received. They pledged to maximize the opportunity by building sustainable businesses and positively impacting the nation’s economy.

NDE’s initiative aligns with six of the eight priority areas under the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, demonstrating a strong dedication to employment generation and economic empowerment. As more Nigerians gain essential skills and financial support, the program is expected to significantly reduce unemployment and stimulate small business growth across the country.
