The Obosi Development Union (ODU) Skills Acquisition, Empowerment, and Palliatives (SAEP) Committee Worldwide has announced a strategic collaboration with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) in Anambra State. This partnership focuses on providing entrepreneurship training, mentorship, and business linkages as part of the upcoming graduation of the Obosi 1 Household 2 Skills Project. Additionally, the initiative includes provisions for small business loans.

The United Bank for Africa (UBA) has introduced specialized funding account packages tailored for the project’s successful trainees. Discussions are also underway to develop more sustainable and accessible financial products to support participants in scaling their ventures.
Project Goals
Nze Chisom Onugha, Chairman of the ODU SAEP Committee Worldwide, stated that the project is designed to tackle social vices and unemployment by equipping disadvantaged and vulnerable citizens with essential skills. The broader aim is to promote job creation, improve security, and foster human resource development in Obosi.
Achievements of the Pilot Phase
The pilot phase, funded by philanthropic contributions from individuals in Obosi, featured skills training, empowerment initiatives, and entrepreneurial support. During a mid-session seminar, trainees showcased their progress through a mini product exhibition and shared their experiences through testimonials.
Igwe Chidubem Iweka, the Eze Obosi, lauded the program’s impact and urged the youth to actively participate in the initiative. Nze Chimezie Obi, ODU Worldwide President General, emphasized that the project serves as a localized complement to Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s broader state initiatives. Similarly, Mrs. Chito Onwuzulike, SMEDAN Anambra State Manager, encouraged participants to maximize the opportunity to enhance their skills and businesses.
The ODU SAEP Committee plans to broaden the project’s reach by securing support from Federal, State, and Local Governments, as well as private and public institutions. Chairman Onugha described the partnership as a cornerstone for achieving rapid enterprise development and advancing industrialization in Nigeria.
