The collaboration between the Oyo State Government, SMEDAN, and Precious Stones Multi Ventures has birthed an initiative aimed at training nano business owners under the “Oyo Scale Up 80 Project.” This initiative seeks to annually empower 80 artisans and small-scale entrepreneurs. The event, hosted at the Precious Stones Multi Ventures training hall in Dugbe, Ibadan, witnessed Dr. Olubunmi Babalola, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperatives, emphasizing the crucial role of MSMEs in economic development. Represented by Mr. Jide Williams, the Deputy Director of Industry, Babalola commended the partnership’s importance and encouraged beneficiaries to share their knowledge within their communities.
Mrs. Iyabo Ojogbede, the State Manager of SMEDAN, reiterated the program’s objective of enhancing the capacity of nano businesses to expand and create employment opportunities. She reaffirmed SMEDAN’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurs in Oyo State for the betterment of job creation, wealth generation, and poverty alleviation. Participants, including Mr. Olalekan Abdulliah and Mrs. Yetunde Uthman, expressed gratitude to the government and collaborating agencies. They regarded the training as invaluable for business growth and urged fellow beneficiaries to utilize their newfound knowledge to empower others.
