Across emerging and underserved communities, social innovators are building solutions to some of the world’s most urgent challenges, from food insecurity and unemployment to climate vulnerability and economic exclusion. Yet many of these initiatives remain underfunded despite their measurable impact.

To spotlight and support exceptional changemakers, the Waislitz Foundation and Global Citizen have officially launched applications for the 2026 Waislitz Global Citizen Awards, one of the world’s notable recognition platforms for social impact leadership.

The annual initiative will award $300,000 in unrestricted funding to individuals creating sustainable solutions aimed at reducing extreme poverty and improving livelihoods globally.

Award Categories and Prize Structure

The programme features three major award categories, each valued at $100,000.

Funding Categories

  • The Global Citizen Waislitz Award
  • Presented to the applicant demonstrating outstanding overall social impact and leadership.
  • The Disruptor Award
  • Designed for innovators challenging outdated systems and introducing transformative solutions to poverty-related issues.
  • The Global Citizens’ Choice Award
  • Selected through public online voting by audiences worldwide.

Beyond financial support, winners will receive global visibility through Global Citizen’s international media platforms, ecosystem exposure, and recognition among development leaders and impact investors.

Eligibility Requirements

The awards are open to applicants from all countries and regions.

  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Present a scalable or sustainable operational model
