Applications are now officially open for the Africa-Europe Innovation Platform (AEIP) Scholars Programme 2026–2027, a collaborative research initiative designed to connect early-career researchers across Africa and Europe.
Funded under the framework of the AU–EU Innovation Agenda (Capacities for Science action), the initiative aims to translate academic research into practical, technology-driven solutions to address shared global challenges while fostering cross-continental scientific cooperation.
Key Programme Benefits
Selected participants in the fellowship will gain access to:
- Sponsored Travel & Presentation: The top three scholar pairs receive full sponsorship to present their collaborative innovations at the AEIP Stakeholder Meeting in Europe (June 2027).
- Interdisciplinary Training: Focused sessions in research impact, science communication, and peer learning.
- Cross-Continental Collaboration: Direct pairing with institutional peers across Africa and Europe to build long-term academic and innovation partnerships.
- Global Ecosystem Visibility: Enhanced exposure within the broader African and European research, policy, and innovation communities.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the AEIP Scholars Programme 2026–2027, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Age Limit: Must be between 25 and 35 years old at the time of application.
- Location: Based in an African or European country.
- Academic Level: Currently enrolled in a PhD program, conducting postdoctoral research, or pursuing advanced studies at a recognized academic or research institution.
- Research Alignment: Have ongoing or completed research, a thesis, or a dissertation aligned with the AU–EU Innovation Agenda.
