AfCFTA Digital Innovation Challenge 2026

The African Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat has launched applications for the AfCFTA Digital Innovation Challenge 2026 to scale trade solutions across Africa. Open to African startups, young innovators (aged 18–35), and women entrepreneurs, the challenge seeks tech tools that solve cross-border trade barriers for small businesses. Selected applicants will receive incubation support, mentorship, investor connections, and Secretariat recognition before the September 4, 2026 deadline.

AfCFTA Digital Innovation Challenge 2026

The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat has officially launched applications for the AfCFTA Digital Innovation Challenge 2026. This continental initiative aims to identify, support, and scale transformative digital solutions that streamline and strengthen cross-border trade across Africa.

The challenge places a strong emphasis on driving the goals of the AfCFTA Protocol on Digital Trade and the Protocol on Women and Youth in Trade, focusing on innovations that empower Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to thrive in intra-African commerce.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applications are open to innovators and entrepreneurs who meet the following criteria:

  • Nationality & Jurisdiction: Citizens, teams, startups, and registered enterprises based in African Union (AU) Member States.
  • Age Target: Young African innovators aged 18 to 35 years.
  • Target Groups: Women and youth entrepreneurs building trade-enabling digital tools.
  • Product Readiness: Operational digital solutions that are validated and ready to scale across borders.
  • Strategic Alignment: Solutions addressing key barriers to cross-border trade and aligning with AfCFTA objectives.
