The Bauchi State Government has secured a $91.6 million infrastructure financing agreement with the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) following 18 months of negotiations backed by a Federal Government guarantee. State Governor Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed revealed the development after returning from the bank’s headquarters in Lomé, Togo. He explained that the facility, which is already captured in the state's 2026 budget, will be accessed in August, paving the way for the completion of all ongoing road projects before the end of his administration. Key road corridors covered under the agreement include the Mararraban Liman Katagum–Bununu, Soro–Miya, Gumau–Kaduna border, and Bara–Wanka roads in Kirfi Local Government Area. Additionally, the governor pledged to resume stalled urban renewal initiatives, such as road works within the Government Reserved Area and bridges across the Bauchi metropolis, emphasizing that these projects now have full financial backing to reduce travel times, improve access to agricultural hubs, and strengthen the state’s position as a regional economic center.
Alongside the financing deal, the Bauchi State Government signed two Memoranda of Understanding with the Saudi Arabian firm Golden Contractors Group to foster multi-sectoral cooperation and sustainable development. Formalized by the Secretary to the State Government, Aminu Hammayo, and the Attorney General, Hassan El-Yakub, alongside Golden Contractors Group CEO Muhammad Faisal Al-Harbi, the first agreement tasks the firm with delivering annual Hajj services to enhance service quality and institutional capacity. The second agreement establishes a collaborative framework for investments in agriculture, mining, infrastructure, tourism, and hospitality. Following two days of strategic talks and site visits across the state, the government expressed strong optimism that the partnership will generate employment, boost state revenue, and deepen bilateral ties between Bauchi State and Saudi Arabia.
