The African Women Leaders Network (AWLN) jointly supported by the African Union (AU) and the United Nations (UN) is officially accepting applications for the 8th Intergenerational Retreat (IGR 8).
This flagship initiative brings together emerging and established African women leaders from across the continent and the Diaspora to foster intergenerational dialogue, build critical leadership skills, and drive transformational action aligned with the AU’s Agenda 2063 and the UN's 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
A total of 40 young women leaders will be selected to participate in this fully sponsored retreat in Libreville, Gabon, this December.
Eligibility Criteria
AWLN welcomes applications from young African women (from the continent or the Diaspora) who meet the following requirements:
- Age: 18 to 45 years old.
- Impact: A proven track record of measurable or recognized leadership and community impact.
- Pillar Alignment: Active engagement or innovation in at least one of AWLN’s six core pillars:
- Peace and Security
- Governance and Political Participation (GPP)
- Financial Inclusion, Economic Development, Natural Resources, and Mining
- Agriculture, Rural Economy, and Land
- Social Mobilisation
- Youth and Emerging Leaders
What Selected Participants Receive
Selected candidates receive full sponsorship, covering registration, travel, and accommodation costs. Beyond financial support, benefits include:
- High-Level Mentorship: Direct engagement with seasoned leaders, including Heads of State, Vice Presidents, and top executives.
- Networking: Strategic connections with influential women leaders across Africa and the global Diaspora.
