CIF Launches ARISE Programme with Up to $50 Million in Climate Resilience Funding for Developing Economies

Developing nations across Africa and other emerging regions now have an opportunity to access large-scale climate financing through the newly launched Accelerating Resilience Investments and Innovations for Sustainable Economies (ARISE) Programme by the Climate Investment Funds (CIF).

The initiative is designed to help governments move beyond short-term disaster response and build long-term economic resilience against climate shocks, extreme weather events, and infrastructure vulnerabilities.

Funding Structure and Financial Support

Selected countries and regional blocs can access substantial concessional financing through two funding windows:

  • $30 million to $40 million for individual country-led projects
  • Up to $50 million for regional or multi-country resilience initiatives

The programme also includes a dedicated Private Sector Set-Aside Window, aimed at attracting private capital and strengthening commercial investment in climate-smart infrastructure projects.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, applicant countries must:

  • Be eligible for Official Development Assistance (ODA)
  • Maintain an active programme with at least one CIF partner Multilateral Development Bank (MDB)
