Applications are officially open for FoodSafety4Africa (FS4Africa) Open Call 2! Funded under the EU’s Horizon Europe program, this initiative is inviting innovation hubs across Africa and Europe to submit their proposals for grant funding.
If your organization specializes in accelerating startups, training entrepreneurs, and strengthening local food systems, this is your opportunity to receive financial support and join an expanding food safety network.
Key Benefits for Selected Hubs
By participating in this call, selected innovation hubs will gain access to significant financial and ecosystem support, including:
- Direct Grant Funding: Receive financial support of up to €40,000 per project.

Program Objectives & Responsibilities
Selected innovation hubs will receive Financial Support to Third Parties (FSTP) to deliver tailored capacity-building interventions focused on food safety. Key responsibilities include:

- Targeted Training & Mentoring:
- Deliver at least 2 training activities to support distinct beneficiaries from FS4Africa Open Call 1.
- Deliver at least 4 training-mentoring activities targeting actors in defined FS4Africa Use Cases.
- Business Acceleration: Help entrepreneurs refine value propositions, strengthen business models, build revenue streams, and identify target markets.
- Social Innovation & Impact: Incorporate gender inclusion, community engagement, and sustainable local embedding while developing investment-readiness and impact measurement strategies.
- Scaling & Market Integration: Improve regulatory awareness, ecosystem integration, and feasible pathways for upscaling and replication.
- Key Deliverables: Submit a Training Activity Plan, Training Delivery Report, and a Final Report.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for funding, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must operate as an Innovation Hub applying as a single legal entity.
- Legal status in an eligible European/associated country (EU Member States, Overseas Countries and Territories, or Horizon Europe associated countries).
- Proven capability to design and implement structured training and mentoring programs.
- Must not be part of the core FS4Africa consortium or currently working for an applicant/consortium organization.
