The Kenya Community Development Foundation (KCDF), in partnership with the I&M Foundation, has officially opened applications for the 2026 Young Innovation Challenge (YIC) (formerly known as the Young Environmentalist Innovation Challenge).
This initiative aims to support youth-led solutions to address sustainable development and contribute to Kenya’s green transition. In this edition, KCDF and I&M Foundation will award funding and technical support to a total of 16 innovators (10 organizations and 6 individuals).
Award Categories
- Category 1: Individual Young Innovators (6 Awards)
- Grant Amount: Up to KES 1,500,000
- Eligibility: Individual youth or unregistered groups of youth (aged 15–35) with tested, impactful environmental innovations.
- Category 2: Youth-Led Organizations (10 Awards)
- Grant Amount: Up to KES 5,000,000
- Eligibility: Formally registered youth-led organizations or companies (e.g., CSOs, Companies Limited by Shares, Companies Limited by Guarantee) with scalable sustainable solutions.
Key Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must reside in Kenya.
- The proposed actions and solutions must be implemented within Kenya.
How to Apply
To apply and submit your proposal, you will need to complete:
- A Technical Application
- A High-Level Budget
- Supporting Documents (such as videos or photos)
