The Lagos State Government has advised motorists using the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to prepare for partial traffic disruptions along the Kara Bridge corridor following the commencement of essential maintenance work. Scheduled to last for two weeks, the project is being executed by the Federal Ministry of Works to replace the bridge's worn expansion joints and enhance overall structural safety. To create a safe work zone for engineering crews, contractors have narrowed the existing four-lane carriageway to two lanes across a 1.5-kilometre stretch. While this reduction is expected to trigger moderate slow-downs around the Fatgbems Turn as drivers make U-turns or seek alternative diversions, traffic traveling past that point toward Ibadan is expected to move with minimal disruption. Dedicated traffic management personnel have been deployed to direct vehicles along the corridor, and state officials are urging commuters to exercise patience, obey traffic rules, and leave extra time for their journeys while these crucial repairs take place.
