African innovators building solutions to social and economic challenges now have access to a major funding opportunity through the 2026 Äänit Prize.
The initiative, led by the Mandela Rhodes Foundation, is designed to support high-impact ventures led by alumni of the Mandela Rhodes and Rhodes Scholarship networks across Africa.
Key Funding Benefits
Successful applicants may receive:
- Up to $100,000 in annual funding
- Continental recognition and visibility

- Investor and ecosystem exposure
- Strategic support for scaling social impact projects

Funding may be shared among multiple winners depending on the strength of selected projects.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be alumni of the Mandela Rhodes or Rhodes Scholarship (2005 onwards)
- Lead or co-lead an African-based initiative
- Demonstrate clear or potential social impact
- Show sustainability and operational feasibility
- Commit to active involvement in the project for at least two years
