Meta AI Academy Nigeria Launches with $5,000 Equity-Free Funding for Tech Innovators

Meta, in partnership with 3MTT Nigeria’s national digital talent initiative under the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy (FMCIDE) and Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Nigeria (RAIN), has announced the launch of the Meta AI Academy Nigeria.

The program is structured as a multi-track AI capacity-building initiative aimed at equipping Nigerian developers, students, early-career professionals, and startups with practical technical skills, self-paced learning resources, and hands-on startup support.

AI Academy Nigeria Pitchathon Track

The program kicks off with the AI Academy Nigeria Pitchathon, the first of three scheduled tracks. This segment focuses on early-stage Nigerian startups and innovator teams building products or working solutions using Meta's suite of AI technologies. Shortlisted participants will have the opportunity to pitch their innovations live at GITEX Nigeria, gaining exposure to key investors and ecosystem stakeholders.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to Nigerian developers, early-stage startups, and technical teams.
  • Projects must utilize Meta's AI tools or technologies.
  • Teams must have either an early-stage AI product concept or a functional working model.

Benefits & Rewards

  • Top Winners: The top two pitchathon teams will each receive US$5,000 in equity-free funding and Meta advertising credits.
  • Global Exposure: Winners receive an invitation to pitch at Meta's Regional AI Summit in Istanbul, Türkiye, scheduled for November 2026.
  • Ecosystem Access: All shortlisted startups gain direct exposure to regional tech investors and network opportunities at GITEX Nigeria.
