MTN Foundation Opens 2026 Scholarship Applications for STEM and Medical Students in Nigeria

The MTN Foundation has announced the commencement of applications for its 2026 scholarship programme for students in Nigerian public tertiary institutions. The initiative covers the Science and Technology Scholarship (STS), the Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS), and a newly introduced category specifically designed for medical students.

The scholarship programme aims to support academic excellence while helping students gain access to financial assistance, mentorship, and employability development opportunities.

Scholarship Categories and Benefits

The foundation revealed that 400 students will receive annual grants worth ₦300,000 each to support tuition, learning materials, and living expenses.

The programme includes:

  • Science and Technology Scholarship (STS)
  • Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS)
  • Medical Students Scholarship

According to the foundation, the newly created medical student category was introduced to provide more focused support for students studying medicine in public universities and teaching hospitals.

Beyond financial aid, beneficiaries will also gain access to mentorship programmes, technical training, and employability workshops through the foundation’s Skill Up initiative.

Applicants must:

  • Study STEM-related courses in public tertiary institutions
  • Maintain a minimum CGPA of 3.5

Medical Students Scholarship

Candidates must:

  • Be 400-level medical students
  • Study in public universities or teaching hospitals
  • Meet the required academic standards

Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS)

Applicants must:

  • Be blind students in 200-level or 300-level
  • Maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.5

The MTN Foundation noted that the scholarships are renewable annually until graduation, provided recipients maintain the required academic performance.
