In an effort to deepen Nigeria’s savings culture and encourage financial resilience amidst rising living costs, OPay has launched a nationwide campaign called the 7 Savings Festival. Powered by its OWealth platform, the 49-day initiative runs from August 10 to September 27, 2026, offering participants daily interest, an annual interest rate of 27 percent, and access to a shared N77m additional interest pool. The campaign comes at a time when households and small businesses face shifting spending patterns, making disciplined financial planning increasingly vital.
To join the campaign, customers can log into the OPay app, navigate to the festival page, and set up a Target Savings plan ranging from N77,000 to N777,000 toward their personal goals. New savings plans can be created through September 20, 2026, with final interest earnings and distributions from the N77m pool scheduled for September 27. To qualify for the full 27 percent annual return and additional interest rewards, participants must maintain their targets without making early withdrawals. Throughout the period, users can track their progress and monitor applicable rewards via the OWealth interface.

OPay emphasizes that the initiative goes beyond attracting deposits, aiming instead to foster long-term habits that help consumers manage and grow their money. According to Elizabeth Wang, Chief Commercial Officer at OPay, the festival reflects the company's commitment to building financial confidence and supporting stronger saving routines on a trusted platform. Established in Nigeria in 2018, OPay operates under a Central Bank of Nigeria license, with customer deposits insured by the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).
