The Oyo State Government has introduced a Digital Labour and Skills Database as part of its efforts to modernize employment systems and improve economic coordination.
The initiative was unveiled in Ibadan during a stakeholders’ engagement involving government agencies, private sector operators, artisans, MSMEs, and development partners under the State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER) and BERAP 2025 framework.
Officials explained that the platform, known as the Oyo State Labour and Skills Registry, is designed to serve as a unified database capturing skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled workers across all 33 local government areas in the state.
The system is expected to bridge the gap between available manpower and labour market demand by allowing employers and investors to easily access verified workers, while giving residents a digital profile to showcase their skills, qualifications, and experience.
Government representatives noted that the initiative will improve workforce planning, strengthen data-driven decision-making, and enhance access to business support services, ultimately boosting industrial growth and investment opportunities in the state.

During a technical demonstration, it was shown that residents can register through mobile devices by uploading their skills, qualifications, and work history. The platform is designed to be secure, accessible, and user-friendly.
Stakeholders at the event, including artisans, market leaders, and business representatives, welcomed the initiative, describing it as a positive step toward improving visibility for skilled workers and expanding economic opportunities across the state.
The engagement also featured discussions on effective implementation to ensure the system delivers on its goal of improving employment coordination and ease of doing business in Oyo State.
