Africa’s agricultural sector continues to sit at the intersection of urgency and opportunity. Climate pressure, supply chain inefficiencies, and food insecurity are reshaping how agribusiness must operate.
Against this backdrop, the Pierre Castel Prize 2026 returns with a renewed push to support high-impact agripreneurs building scalable, locally rooted solutions across Africa’s food systems.
Backed by the Pierre Castel Fund – Acting with Africa in partnership with Castel Africa, the programme is designed to identify and accelerate businesses driving measurable agricultural transformation.
Why the Prize Matters
Food systems across Africa face structural pressure from climate disruption, logistics gaps, and fragmented value chains. Yet agriculture remains one of the continent’s strongest engines for job creation and economic resilience.
The Pierre Castel Prize focuses on long-term system change by supporting entrepreneurs who are:
- Improving agricultural productivity
- Strengthening food supply chains
- Building climate-resilient agribusiness models
- Driving rural economic inclusion
Rather than short-term relief funding, the initiative prioritizes sustainable enterprise development with measurable social and environmental outcomes.
