The African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) has officially opened applications for the 2026 Leadership Program for Emerging African Women in Agricultural Sciences. Designed to address the ongoing underrepresentation of women in science leadership, this initiative equips high-potential, early-career women with the tools to advance their careers and drive agricultural innovation across Africa.
To achieve this, the program delivers a customized, highly practical learning experience that integrates leadership development, scientific proposal writing, personal branding, and strategic communication. Participants receive comprehensive support through interactive training modules combined with personalized one-on-one coaching and mentorship, ensuring they can immediately apply new skills to navigate organizational dynamics, lead teams, and pitch research to funders. Since its launch in 2021, the initiative has already empowered 113 participants across 20 African nations.
