The 2026 CircularEconomy4Ghana Innovation Challenge

The Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, through the Accelerate for Impact Platform (A4IP), has officially launched the call for applications for the 2026 CircularEconomy4Ghana Innovation Challenge. This initiative is designed to identify and scale innovative agricultural technologies that strengthen the circular economy, enhance food security, and build long-term climate resilience within Ghana's agricultural sector.

The challenge is implemented in partnership with the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO/ITPO), and E4Impact, with the strategic support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy.

Core Priority Areas (Themes)

Submitted solutions must align with at least one of the following strategic pillars:

  • Waste Valued: Waste segregation, collection, and valorization systems.
  • Smart Dirt: Nutrient recovery and circular soil fertility solutions.
  • Green Finance: Innovative financing models and improved financial access for circular agri-enterprises.
  • Tech-Driven Tracking: Traceability, data analytics, and supply chain efficiency for circular value chains.
  • Digital Knowledge: Digital advisory and knowledge-sharing networks tailored to circular agriculture.
  • Inclusivity: Economically viable, inclusive circular business models designed for youth and women.

Eligibility Requirements

The program is seeking early-stage agri-tech ventures that meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum Viable Product (MVP): Applicants must possess a working MVP that has ideally undergone initial testing with end-users.
  • Funding Stage: Teams should be actively seeking pre-seed or seed-stage investment.
  • Market Fit: Solutions must address verified market demands, resolve specific local agricultural challenges, and demonstrate measurable benefits for smallholder farmers and agricultural value chain actors.
