Applications are now open for The Policy Challenge 2026, a national competition that empowers young Nigerians to develop practical solutions to governance and development issues in the country.
The initiative brings together brilliant undergraduate students from tertiary institutions across Nigeria to develop innovative policy proposals that address institutional reforms, accountability, and inclusive governance.
About The Policy Challenge 2026
The 2026 edition is centered on the theme:
“Rebuilding Trust in the Nigerian State: Institutional Reforms for Legitimacy, Effectiveness, and Inclusive Governance.”
Participants are expected to submit research-driven, solution-oriented policy proposals that address governance challenges in Nigeria.
The competition aims to encourage:
- Policy innovation
- Leadership development
- Civic engagement
- Critical thinking among young Nigerians
Selected finalists will also gain exposure to policymakers, governance experts, and other emerging changemakers across the country.
Prize Categories
Winning teams will receive substantial cash rewards, including:
- 1st Place: ₦2 Million plus additional prizes
- 2nd Place: ₦1 Million
- 3rd Place: ₦750,000
Beyond the financial rewards, participants gain national visibility and recognition as emerging policy leaders.

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following conditions:
- Be undergraduate students in a Nigerian tertiary institution during the 2025/2026 academic session
- Be at least 18 years old by August 2026
- Apply in teams consisting of 2 to 4 members
- Ensure all team members are from the same institution
- Be available to attend the Policy Conference in Abuja on August 12, 2026, if selected as finalists
