Applications are officially open for the 2027 Sasol Foundation Bursary Programme. Designed to address national and global talent shortages, the program provides comprehensive financial support to top-performing South African students pursuing higher education.

Bursary Categories

1. STEM Bursaries

These bursaries support students entering full-time undergraduate degree studies in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Priority will be given to fields aligned with future economic demands, specifically Digitalisation and the Green Economy.

  • Eligible Disciplines Include: Engineering, Information Technology, Data Science, Agricultural Science, Environmental Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Construction & Manufacturing.
  • Note: Postgraduate bursaries are not available for the upcoming academic year.

2. Non-STEM Bursaries

Reserved strictly for non-STEM undergraduate qualifications, this stream is available exclusively to:

  • Candidates residing within Sasol’s fence-line communities (municipalities/districts adjacent to Sasol operations).
  • Children of Sasol Khanyisa shareholders.
  • Children of current Sasol employees.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for consideration, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Citizenship: Must hold South African citizenship by birth only.
  • Education Level:
  • Applying for 1st-year degree studies: Must have completed Matric within the past year or currently be in your Matric year.
  • Current 2nd, 3rd, or 4th-year university students: Must maintain a minimum overall average of 60% across all modules.
  • Must be pursuing your first undergraduate degree.
  • Institution: Must study full-time at an accredited public South African University or University of Technology.
  • Age Limit: Must be 25 years of age or younger at the time of application.
  • Financial Criteria: Household income must not exceed R800,000.00 per annum. Final selection will prioritize candidates demonstrating high academic potential alongside genuine financial need.
