Pan-African fintech company Yellow Card has secured $40 million in a strategic funding round to accelerate its global expansion and strengthen its cross-border payment infrastructure. Backed by high-profile investors including SC Ventures (by Standard Chartered), Sony Innovation Fund, Polychain Capital, and Blockchain Capital, this latest capital injection pushes the company’s total funding beyond the $120 million mark.
The fresh capital will primarily drive the expansion of Yellow Card’s Global USD Accounts, an end-to-end treasury and payments solution designed to give businesses a seamless way to hold U.S. dollars, manage liquidity, swap stablecoins, and move money across local payment rails in more than 50 countries. By connecting financial institutions directly to stablecoin networks, Yellow Card aims to eliminate the friction, delays, and high costs historically associated with traditional correspondent banking systems.
Industry leaders backing the deal see the move as a major step forward for digital asset utility. Alex Manson, CEO of SC Ventures, noted that while stablecoins are here to stay, their long-term adoption hinges on robust infrastructure and clear real-world application rails that Yellow Card is actively building across Africa and beyond. The deal also marks Sony Innovation Fund’s entry into supporting Yellow Card's footprint, particularly as the platform scales into the Asia-Pacific region. Austin Noronha, Managing Director at Sony Ventures-US, highlighted that Yellow Card’s blend of local fiat payment rails, APIs, institutional security, and regulatory compliance positions it uniquely to bridge traditional finance with modern digital networks.

For Yellow Card CEO and Co-founder Chris Maurice, the investment serves as a strong validation of the company's long-term vision. Maurice emphasized that the team’s next phase will focus on empowering underserved businesses by providing them with direct access to dollar-based financial services and connecting traditional institutions to stablecoin infrastructure.
Yellow Card's growth trajectory is backed by substantial operational scale. Having already facilitated over $10 billion in transaction volume across more than 50 currencies, the platform maintains 22 licenses and regulatory registrations across North America, Europe, and Africa. Its infrastructure is already trusted by global giants like Visa and Western Union to hedge foreign exchange exposure and settle local payments, alongside strategic partnerships with firms such as Mastercard, PayPal, and Coinbase as it expands across Africa, Latin America, and the Asia-Pacific region.
