The inaugural edition of the RevUp Women Initiative culminated in a grand business showcase, where 10 female entrepreneurs from various African nations were each granted US$10,000, totaling US$100,000.
RevUp Women Initiative is dedicated to empowering women entrepreneurs across Africa by providing essential resources, mentorship, and training. Their mission is to enable women to establish and expand successful businesses, thereby contributing significantly to economic growth and advancing gender equality.
The business showcase, organized collaboratively by AfriLabs and the Visa Foundation, featured an award ceremony as its main highlight.
Following a rigorous selection process, the 10 winners were announced during the ceremony. These entrepreneurs represented different countries: Baby Grubz and Queen Amina Medical Integration from Nigeria, Ecokud and Ziada from Kenya, WaziEats and V’s VitaLife from Cameroon, Mali Food and P.aktion from the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Ndiqala from South Africa.
Nanko Madu, AfriLabs’ Director of Programs, emphasized the importance of investing in women, highlighting its strategic significance beyond moral considerations. Recognizing and leveraging women as pivotal drivers of economic development are essential for achieving inclusive growth.
