The Silicon Valley Nigeria Economic Development (SV-NED Inc. USA/SV-NED Energy Ltd) and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have embarked on a significant initiative to empower Nigerian youth and strengthen small businesses. Both organizations recently launched a Project Implementation Committee (PIC) in Abuja to drive efforts focused on skills development, SME advancement, and job creation across the country.
During the inauguration, HRH Queen Mother Amb. Amina Temitope Labinjo Ajayi, Chairman of SV-NED, described the partnership as a transformative step for Nigerian youth empowerment and economic growth. She underscored the pivotal role young Nigerians play in catalyzing the nation’s economic progress.
The partnership has introduced several key initiatives, including the establishment of a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Conversion Centre and affordable housing projects. These initiatives are designed to address Nigeria’s housing deficit while simultaneously providing critical support to small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Moreover, NYSC corps members will gain access to specialized skills training in entrepreneurship and the oil and gas sector, broadening their career opportunities beyond their mandatory service period. This skills acquisition program aims to equip young Nigerians with the knowledge and tools necessary to make meaningful contributions to the country’s economic development.
One of the most notable aspects of the collaboration is the Renewed Hope Cities Programme, which involves constructing 10,112 housing units. This project will not only tackle the housing shortage but also drive economic growth by creating opportunities for SMEs in construction and related industries.
Stakeholders at the event reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that this partnership serves as a benchmark for sustainable economic growth and youth empowerment in Nigeria. They emphasized that this collaboration is a critical step toward addressing unemployment, reducing the housing gap, and fostering SME growth.
With these initiatives underway, the partnership between SV-NED and NYSC promises to pave the way for a more prosperous future for Nigerian youth while strengthening the nation’s economy.
