The top ten graduates of the Creative Accelerators Program (CAP) were each awarded a ₦500,000 grant to launch their businesses during a lively graduation ceremony that honored the first cohort of 100 emerging creatives. The event featured an impressive showcase of the participants’ newly honed skills through a drama performance, a fashion parade, and a movie trailer—all produced by the graduates.
Fegho Umunubo, Special Assistant to the President on Digital and Creative Economy, emphasized the program’s vital role in bolstering the digital and creative industries by equipping the next generation of professionals with essential skills. Umunubo further announced that the training will now be held quarterly, ensuring four cohorts graduate annually, and assured that measures are in place to guarantee that grant recipients utilize the funds effectively.
A key highlight of the graduation was a pitch competition where participants vied for the ₦500,000 funding. Ultimately, ten standout participants were selected as grant recipients, with additional funding opportunities being planned to further support their entrepreneurial endeavors.
Great Ogban, Director General of MEDA, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustaining the creative economy through continuous training and empowerment. He stated, “We will continue supporting the creative economy through ongoing training and empowerment.” He also commended the leadership of His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, for prioritizing MSME development, particularly in the creative sector within Cross River State.
Launched in October 2024, the Creative Accelerators Program (CAP) has garnered widespread industry support and remains dedicated to driving growth in the creative economy.
