Unity Bank Plc’s Yanga savings account offering has made a significant impact on over 5,000 female entrepreneurs in Nigeria, delivering tailored assistance to women business owners nationwide. This initiative encompasses various support measures such as capacity building, financing for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), affordable health insurance, and cash management services. Unity Bank has engaged with beneficiaries through collaboration with approximately 90 women groups, in conjunction with the Association of Nigerian Women Business Network (ANWBN).
During a forum held in Abuja under the theme “Building Sustainable Entrepreneurial and Financial Skills for Women in Challenging Times,” Mrs. Adenike Abimbola, the Divisional Head of Retail & SME Banking at Unity Bank Plc, reiterated the institution’s dedication to empowering women entrepreneurs. She emphasized the successful partnership with ANWBN, which has equipped Nigerian women with skills and access to credit facilities, thereby expanding the MSME sector in Nigeria.
Ms. Angela Ajala, the National Coordinator of ANWBN, praised Unity Bank for its support and stressed the importance of providing women with the necessary tools, resources, and knowledge to excel as entrepreneurs and financial leaders.
Launched in 2021, the Yanga Savings Account aims to uplift Nigerian women entrepreneurs, promote their businesses, and enhance their skill sets while facilitating access to micro-loans and health insurance. Unity Bank’s collaboration with SkillPaddy to empower 1,000 female beneficiaries through Software Engineering Training further underscores its commitment to women’s empowerment initiatives, aligning with International Women’s Day 2024.
