Zoho, a global technology company, has announced a partnership with She Code Africa (SCA), a leading non-profit organization dedicated to empowering and upskilling African women in the tech industry. This collaboration aims to equip Nigerian students with essential tech skills and foster innovation through the use of Zoho Creator, a low-code app development platform.
As part of this initiative, Zoho will conduct training sessions for 30 SCA Academy trainers, introducing them to Zoho Creator. These trainers will participate in a three-day, in-depth training session at Zoho’s Lagos office, where they will learn how to build enterprise-grade applications using low-code technology. Additionally, the trainers will receive free access to the Zoho Creator platform for one year, along with comprehensive training materials to support their learning and subsequent teaching efforts.
This initiative is a key component of Zoho’s ‘Young Creators Program,’ which aims to bridge the technical skill gap and support talent-building among the youth. The program is focused on equipping future business leaders with advanced digital skills and fostering technology innovation.
Kehinde Ogundare, Country Head of Zoho Nigeria, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting local communities by upskilling and hiring local talent, empowering local businesses with their technology, and promoting responsible and sustainable development. He noted that their growth strategy, known as transnational localism, embodies these values, and that this partnership with She Code Africa is a continuation of their commitment to grassroots progress by equipping Nigerian students with critical tech skills.
Maryblessing Okolie, Community Manager at She Code Africa, highlighted that the ‘Young Creators Program’ aims to bridge the technical skill gap and support talent-building for youth who will become the next generation of leaders and professionals. She expressed her enthusiasm for partnering with Zoho to help their trainers learn the latest advancements in low-code technology and subsequently pass on this knowledge to their students.
Launched globally in 2022, the Young Creators Program has already trained over 2000 students on Zoho Creator, enabling participants to earn program completion certificates and win exciting prizes. Beyond technical skills, the program boosts confidence, fosters personal growth, and opens doors to further opportunities in the technology industry.
The partnership between Zoho and She Code Africa represents a significant step towards empowering women in tech and bridging the skill gap in the African tech industry. By providing essential training and resources, this collaboration aims to create a new generation of tech-savvy business leaders and innovators, contributing to the overall development and growth of the tech ecosystem in Nigeria and beyond.
