Applications are officially open for the 2026 CGIAR Climate, Peace, and Security Spring School! Early-career researchers based in South Africa are invited to take part in this fully funded, three-day intensive program running from September 2–4, 2026, at the University of Fort Hare (East London Campus).
Jointly organized by the University of Fort Hare and the CGIAR Climate Security team (Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT) alongside the University of KwaZulu-Natal and the University of the Free State the Spring School brings together emerging scholars to build interdisciplinary expertise, practical skills, fieldwork experience, and vital regional networks.
Who Is Eligible to Apply?
- Target Applicants: Master’s and PhD students, postdoctoral research fellows, early-career researchers, and young professionals.
- Relevant Fields: Environmental Science, Peace & Conflict Studies, Political Science, Migration, Sociology, Development Studies, or related disciplines.
- Location Requirement: Must currently reside in South Africa. (Women and individuals from underrepresented backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.)
